May 21, 2024 Box Scores - The Shul Blackhats split a pair in their doubleheader Tuesday night, loosing a close battle against ASKT 11-9, and then coming back to beat Metro 12-8 to close out the evening. The Blackhats are back in action next Tuesday in another double header - as they face off against CBINT at 6:00pm at Kletzsch 3, then host ToD at Kletzsch 1 at 7:00pm.
May 14, 2024 Box Scores - On a frigid night at Brown Deer Park to open the season, YOUR Black Hats faced the perennially successful Rollies squad. While the weather outside was frightful, the Black Hats comradery was delightful. We began with a flourish, scoring four runs in the top of the first. Sam Smulyan led off with a double and Andrew Hoppert followed with a home run. Yosef Baldon contributed with a double and eventually scored along with Josh Liberman. Rabbi Yossi Bassman had the last RBI. We scored again in the next frame but eventually fell 7-6 in an exciting and well played contest. This is the closest we have ever come to defeating Rollies. And while there are no moral victories, I believe we sent a message across the league to look out for the 2024 Black Hats!
A few other highlights: Avner was masterful on the mound and was supported by stout defense, limiting the potent Rollies. Most Black Hats players got on base at least once as everyone looked comfortable in the batter's box.
We are pleased to announce that Randy Bern, "Mr. Black Hats", has been promoted to First Base/Batting Coach. Randy has had a long, successful tenure with the team; he epitomizes all that is good about the Black Hats and undoubtedly will make a positive impact in his new role.
